Things change
Nowadays, people on the street often say “TP-Link Omada is the new Ubiquiti UniFi”. At least at my home, this is true.
About 10 years ago, I became a fan of Ubiquiti UniFi access points. They are rock-solid enterprise hardware produced by a good-guy company. However, things have changed since then.
My UniFi AP-AC-LR worked perfectly, until recently its PoE injector began having stability issues. A new injector wouldn’t have been expensive, but I saw this as an opportunity to upgrade my home Wi-Fi to 802.11ax. I switched the access point two hours ago, and so far, I do not regret my decision to switch to Omada.
I find UniFi to be more aesthetically pleasing than Omada. The Ubiquiti logo is exceptionally appealing for a fanboy of the company. In contrast, I’ve always considered TP-Link products to be the cheapest on the market. Now, it’s interesting to compare UniFi and Omada because the former feels light and plastic, while Omada is much heavier and sturdier.
P.S. Happy new year! Memento mori 😼
